General ledger automation for month-end close
Most of a close is tie-out work: bank to ledger, subledgers to ledger, and a list of entries that repeat every month. We build software that does the matching and prepares the entries with their support, so your accountants spend the close on the items that do not tie.
The problem
Why the close runs late.
The ledger is rarely wrong in an interesting way. It is late because finding the difference takes days of spreadsheet work.
- Reconciliations are manualbank statements and subledger reports are exported, lined up, and compared by hand
- Recurring entries are rebuilt every monththe same accruals and allocations, typed again from last month's file
- Support lives in foldersan auditor's question sends someone looking for the document behind an entry
- The checklist is a spreadsheetnobody can see at a glance what is done, what waits on whom, and what is blocking
What we build
Tie-out done for you, sign-off kept with you.
Posting, period close, and sign-off stay with your team. The software prepares and checks; a person decides.
- Journal entry preparationrecurring and accrual entries drafted with supporting detail attached
- Reconciliationbank, AP, and AR balances reconciled to the ledger, with the items that do not tie listed
- Exception reviewunusual postings and variances flagged, with the source transactions one click away
- Close checklistkept current item by item, so the state of the close is visible
Where this stands
Ledger work builds on payables.
Accounts payable is the module we run in production today, with 1,000+ invoices a month reviewed and coded through it. General ledger automation is not running in production yet. We scope it against your chart of accounts and close process, starting with one reconciliation.
- 01
Pick one reconciliation or recurring entry with a number attached, such as hours per close or days to close
- 02
Build against your real statements, subledger reports, and chart of accounts
- 03
Measure the next close against the last one, then expand only if it earns it
Controls
Built to hold up in an audit.
- Every entry links to the document it was built from
- Approval routing follows your own limits and segregation-of-duties rules
- A log of who changed what, and what the system suggested at the time
- When the data is thin, the system says so instead of producing a number
Questions
What controllers ask first.
Does it post journal entries automatically?
No. It prepares entries and shows the support. Posting stays with your team.
Which ERP does it work with?
We prepare structured entries in the format your system expects. SAP is in production today for payables; other systems are scoped per project.
Where do we start?
One reconciliation or one recurring entry, measured against how long it took last close.
Start with one queue.
Tell us which queue your team still works by hand. We will say whether it is worth automating, and what it would take. Sometimes the answer is no.
